You've decided to
include a Chariot Carrier as one of your 'baby' purchases to
yourself for getting back into shape and outdoors. Congratulations
to you and your baby. Here we give you some info about when to
start using your Chariot and how to best use Chariot versatility
as an integral part of your fitness program.
When to Buy
We're often asked
when a Chariot should be purchased. We recommend purchasing just
before your first-born babies due date, as this allows you time to
adjust to your newborn and your Chariot will be poised to roll,
when you're both ready. Plus, you’ll get the most use from your
Chariot before junior starts walking and running themselves! If
you wait until your first-born is one year old, then you could be
pregnant soon, with a second, and you’ll likely find less
opportunities for using your Chariot.
Before Baby
However,
regardless of when you purchase, we encourage both parents who are
planning a family to be physically active before becoming
pregnant. If you both remain moderately active during your
pregnancy, it is easier to regain a healthy, active lifestyle as a
new 'Chariot' family, once your baby arrives. For exercise tips
while pregnant (and postpartum), consult magazines such as
ePregnancy, FitPregnancy, and Pregnancy. Convenient 9-month
subscriptions are very reasonably priced.
Postpartum Fitness
After your baby is
born, your CTS Chariot is ready-to-convert to the activity of your
choice, though we recommend the following sequence: start walking
in stroller mode or jogging mode, and as your child grows, add
running in jogging mode. Cross-country skiing and hiking can be
added sometime between 6 and 12 months, depending on many factors
such as terrain, speed traveled and child development, (see
below). And when your child can sit unaided and wear a helmet, you
can then add cycling in trailer mode to your exercise routine.
This progression takes about a year and depends on your child's
development and the recommendation of your physician.
